Brian Perry's Philosophy of Education

As a teacher it is important to have a strong philosophy of education.  One of the most important things a teacher can do for the students is to provide an inviting classroom.  Aside from the classroom environment, the entire curriculum should be inviting.

Children learn in many different ways: some learn by listening, others by reading, and even more learn by actually “doing.”  In order to be a successful teacher, it is our job to adjust to the learning needs of the students.  It is also important that the teacher know where each child’s learning level is, that way the teacher will be able to challenge the students, and allow for learning.
Another responsibility as a teacher is to teach the students to be
confident, responsible, and how to be a team player.  It is important for teachers to build confidence in the students by making them feel important.  Teachers can help build responsibility and cooperation by providing lessons that allow for cooperative learning groups.  Confidence, responsibility, and cooperation are skills students will need for everyday life.  As teachers, we are responsible for instilling these qualities in our students.
Education is an opportunity for both
mental and moral growth in students.  Education is also the union of student, parent, school and community.  Students are the reasons that schools exist in the first place.  As teachers, we are responsible for providing a safe and consistent environment where students can learn.
